Maga Bo is a DJ/producer working with an international collision of styles, sounds, location recordings from all continents and beats that have yet to be classified. A study in the digital contortions of hip hop, ragga, breakbeat and jungle drum ‘n’ bass, his sound is a divine (s)mashup of batucada, rai, capoeira, bhangra, and skewed electronic beats in a borderless conundrum of gritty street sounds, found and modified rhythms and melodies from Brazil, Morocco, Senegal, India and beyond. DJing and producing tracks with a portable laptop studio, he has worked and performed in North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Soot Records is all set to release the second (of 2) 12" vinyls and the debut Maga Bo full length album, "Archipelagoes" - look for it in June.
The first (of 3) video clips to accompany "Archipelagoes" - "Fire feat. Xuman" - is now online. Filmed and edited in Dakar, Senegal.

Nanny Tango and MELT 2000 released my remix (featuring the vocal talents of Teba Shumba) of "Ukukhanya" on CD and 7" vinyl (out now!) in Europe and South Africa.
Confusion of Tongues mixed by Maga Bo - released on Soot Records
Soot Records just released a Maga Bo mixtape entitled, "Confusion of Tongues" as well as the first (of 2) 12" vinyls. Expect lots of unreleased material, remixes and contributions from the likes of Dr. Das and Pitcho, Filastine, Nettle, Black Alien, Instituto, BNegão, Digitaldubs Sound System, Slaughter Mob and Mr. Catra. 2 12" vinyls will be released simultaneously with guest MCs Xuman from Pee Froiss (Senegal), Bigg and K-Libre (Morocco) and remixes by Ghislain Poirier, Dr. Das (ex-Asian Dub Foundation) and Nettle.

Morocco - June - July 2005
In June and July, he was on a recording and production trip to Morocco where he collaborated with K-Libre, Bigg (Mafia C), Jawad, and Zankaflow as well as a Sonar Calibrado production meeting in Tangier with Filastine (our track with Mr. Catra is finished - stay tuned for samples).

Dakar, Senegal April - May, 2005
In April and May, he was in Dakar, Senegal producing beats and recording local MCs and musicians. A temporary laptop-based studio was set up in the Village des Arts in Grand Dakar. Among the artists who participated were Pee Froiss (Xuman, Koc6 and DJ Gee Bayss), ALIF (Attaque Libératoire de l’Infanterie Féministe), Wa BMG 44, Omzo, Eskadron 113, Daddy Maky, Mell Nenen Crew, Edouard Manga and Modou M’Baye. Hip hop and ragga in Wolof and French predominated, but some English, Mandinka, and even the invented wolofolatino patois of Eskadron 113, as well as a one drop dub track found their way in as well.
